Animal rights organization UAnimals has reported possible exploitation of wild animals at Feldman Ecopark and the lack of official permits to keep them. Activists have appealed to the police and state authorities to conduct inspections after animals were taken to the Barabashovo market for photo shoots, which they say violates the law and causes stress to the animals.
Kharkiv regional police said that during the inspection they found no signs of cruelty: the animals were transported legally, the events were charitable, and experts did not record injuries or suffering.
However, the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture noted that the ecopark does not have the status of a zoo and does not have the appropriate permits to keep wild animals.
Comment by lawyer Roman Chumak:
“According to the Law of Ukraine “On the Protection of Animals from Cruelty”, conducting photo services with wild animals is possible only on condition that the animals do not suffer, and the institution has the appropriate status and permits.”
This situation caused a public outcry and emphasized the need to comply with legislation on animal protection and control the activities of such institutions.

On November 13, 2025, the State Tax University hosted a roundtable discussion “Sports and Law: Legal Guarantees for Ensuring Access to Sports and Recreational Services”, organized by the Faculty of Social and Humanitarian Technologies, Sports and Rehabilitation together with the NOC of Ukraine Branch in Kyiv Region and the All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Athletes.
The event was dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine and became a separate professional platform within the framework of forum events. The event brought together international experts, representatives of the Olympic movement, sports federations, scientists and lawyers focused on the development of legal mechanisms for the accessibility of sports and recreation services.
Yevheniy Promsky, Head of the Sports Law Committee of the Ukrainian Bar Association and attorney at the ARES Law Company, delivered a report on the topic:
“Ukrainian Cases in CAS: Precedentes That Affect the Future.”
In his speech, he spoke about key cases of Ukrainian athletes and federations in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), as well as how these decisions form the normative and practical basis for all Ukrainian sports law.
On October 11, 2025, the Sports Law Forum was held, organized by the League of Students of the Ukrainian Bar Association.
Yevhenii Promsky, lawyer of the ARES Law Company and Chairman of the Sports Law Committee of the Ukrainian Bar Association, moderated the panel discussion “The Role of a Lawyer in Sports, or What Happens Behind the Scenes”.
During the discussion, the participants talked about what shapes the modern legal ecosystem of sports:
- Oleksiy Vagin, Deputy Chairman of the Youth Council under the Ministry of Youth and Sports - about the peculiarities of administrative and legal regulation of the sphere of sports in Ukraine in the context of European integration;
- Dmytro Borovlev, lawyer of the Department of Disciplinary and Regulatory Work, - member of the Ethics and Fair Play Committee of the Ukrainian Football Association - about the bodies implementing football justice;
- Andriy Davydenko, Chairman of the Ethics and Fair Play Committee of the Ukrainian Football Association, and Anastasia Bilenko, Secretary of the Ethics and Fair Play Committee of the Ukrainian Football Association — about integrity in football, fair play and ethics
The discussion showed that the role of a lawyer in sports goes far beyond contractual or judicial work — it is about developing a culture of fair play, transparency and trust in the sports environment. Thank you to the APU Students’ League for the invitation and excellent organization of the event! Together we are building the professional future of sports law in Ukraine.
The Ares Law Firm traditionally supported the holding of a solemn event dedicated to the Day of Law in 2025.
Roman Chumak, Managing Partner of the Ares Law Firm, addressed the participants of the event with welcoming words.
Roman Chumak noted that the energetic combination of spirituality and law that took place on this day was a unique experience for him. He called on lawyers to reflect on their own responsibility to society and the state on their professional holiday.
In Sofia Kyivska, the Ukrainian Bar Association gathered lawyers, representatives of the authorities, clergy, international partners and students to jointly celebrate the beginning of a new legal year - a year that is designed to establish justice as the basis of statehood and Ukraine's European path.
In his speech, the President of the Ukrainian Bar Association Mykola Stetsenko called on the community to remain a moral guide for society: "True justice exists only when the law protects, heals and restores."
On September 18, a landmark event took place in Ukraine - the 1st Sports Law Forum, which brought together leading lawyers and representatives of the sports industry. The event became a platform for a professional discussion on how law and sports interact and influence each other.
Yevhenii Promsky, Chairman of the Sports Law Committee of the Ukrainian Football Association, and a lawyer for the company, participated in the Forum from the Ares Law Company.
In his report, he emphasized that sports are not only competitions, emotions and victories, but primarily a complex system of legal relations. Each of its elements - from an athlete or club to federations and fans - requires proper legal protection and clear rules of the game.
Yevhenii Promsky shared an analysis of the practice of the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) with the participation of Ukrainian athletes and clubs. He specifically focused on anti-doping proceedings, as well as contract disputes, which have significantly influenced the development of sports law.
According to Yevheniy, the key task of lawyers in this area is to create conditions under which sport in Ukraine will develop honestly, transparently, and in accordance with international standards.
For our team, participation in the Forum is not only an opportunity to share practical experience, but also an important step in the development of legal culture in the field of sports.
ARES Law Firm acted as an expert partner of the event, which brought together business and lawyers to find solutions in times of challenges.
As part of the session “Legal Anti-Crisis Toolkit for Business: From Risks to Solutions,” our company’s lawyer, Vladislav Zaitsev, Head of the APU Committee on Migration Law, acted as a speaker.
In his speech, he systematized key aspects:
- the procedure for booking employees in 2025;
- the algorithm for obtaining the status of a “critically important enterprise”;
- practical tools for maintaining the operational stability of a business.
Special attention was paid to alternative mechanisms for interaction with the Ministry of Defense in terms of obtaining criticality status (government contracts, equipment repair, UAV production), priority actions when booking, and risks for employees and companies.
The session demonstrated that thanks to the right combination of law, procedures, and partnerships, business can not only withstand modern challenges, but also continue to develop.
We thank the Ukrainian Bar Association for the organization, as well as our expert colleagues for the meaningful discussion. ARES Law Firm continues to share practical knowledge and protect business interests in wartime conditions.
On September 5, 2025, Roman Chumak, Managing Partner of the Law Association "ARES Law Company", took part in the VIII Annual International Conference "Made in Odesa. PRO ENFORCEMENT 2.0". During the event, he shared his practical experience in using tools that operate on the basis of artificial intelligence (AI), in particular, the Database of Legal Positions of the Supreme Court. Using this resource as an example, the lawyer demonstrated how effectively and quickly one can find legal positions of the Supreme Court and apply them in professional activities.
In his speech, Roman Chumak noted that the capabilities of AI are configured in such a way that the user can search both by keywords and by full text or link. At the same time, despite its convenience, the system is not yet perfect: sometimes entering the necessary search queries does not ensure obtaining a relevant decision. However, even under such conditions, this tool is much more convenient compared to the Unified State Register of Court Decisions.
Separately, the work of the Modern Law Portal "Supreme Observer", created on the basis of the Supreme Court website, was noted. This resource provides an opportunity for every lawyer to publish their own articles after simple registration as an author.
In conclusion, the managing partner of the ARES Law Firm emphasized that such tools help save time and, in his opinion, will become an additional incentive for the state to further develop and implement artificial intelligence technologies in the field of law.
On August 2, a jet ski crashed into an inflatable mattress on which a 32-year-old woman was riding on a lake in Bezlyudivka. The victim was taken to the hospital, but her life could not be saved.
Lawyer Roman Chumak commented on the incident, drawing attention to the legal aspects of using watercraft. According to him, only persons over 18 years of age with appropriate training and a boatman's certificate can drive jet skis. Violation of these rules is punishable by a fine of 25 to 50 tax-free minimum incomes, and repeated violations are more severe.
The investigation of such cases is carried out similarly to road accidents: a scheme of the incident is drawn up, a protocol is drawn up, eyewitness testimony is recorded, and the guilty are determined.
